Worcester Militia

Based at the Commandery, Worcester, the Militia is a living history group open to anyone interested in portraying Worcester life during the middle years of the 17th century.

The intention is to portray a wide range of civilian and militia activity. To do so we wish to develop impressions of all ranks and divisions of 17th century society, ranging from the local gentry, through townsfolk, craftsmen and merchants, to vagabonds and the criminal classes.

On occasion these Worcester residents will be drafted, willingly or otherwise, into the local defence militia. They will be put through rudimentary military training by veterans of the wars or hired professionals, in order to defend the City.
